Healthy Candy Corn Smoothies

Healthy candy corn smoothies are a fulfilling and delicious treat for your smoothie. I make these yearly for our family each October. I am always trying to come up with fun and nutritious holiday themed snacks for our family to enjoy. There are so many ways to do these candy corn smoothies and they don’t take a lot of time even with multiple layers!

White Layer

I chose to layer my smoothie with the white on the bottom. Depending on how you want your smoothie to look you could do the white on top. For the white layer, I use yogurt. The yogurt is a little thicker/heavier so it naturally sinks to the bottom of the smoothie. I did not freeze the yogurt layer at all. I’ve done this smoothie with coconut milk as well (that layer I had to freeze before). Some of my kids don’t love the taste of coconut so I do a plain yogurt layer.

Orange Layer

I chose to do a mango layer. Peach, Orange, or papaya would also work well. My kids love Naked drinks. If they are on sale during soccer season we generally get those to pass out to the team. This was an easy way to have the dark orange color for my orange layer in the smoothie. I wanted their to be a distinct color difference between the orange and yellow layers. I paired the mango juice with some frozen mangos to get this color. The orange layer is the biggest part of a candy corn

Yellow Layer

My yellow layer is pineapple. I think it pairs nicely with the mango. Depending on what your pineapple looks like will depend on how dark or light the smoothie will look. They will probably look different each time.

Old Photos

The first time I photographed this recipe was in 2015. Here are the photos from then. These two photos have coconut milk in them. (The bottom layer was put in the freezer first before pouring on the mango layer).

With the straw you can mix the yogurt directly in with the mango or pineapple layers. I hope you enjoy these healthy candy corn smoothies as part of your Halloween and fall festivities each year.

Serves: 4
Prep Time: 1h

Ingredients

  • White Layer
  • 1 cup plain non-fat yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • Orange Layer
  • 16 oz frozen mango
  • 10 oz Mighty Mango Naked
  • Yellow Layer
  • 10 oz frozen pineapple
  • ½ cup apple or pineapple juice

Instructions

1

1) Mix yogurt and lemon juice together.

2

2) Carefully scoop yogurt into 4 glasses. I used a small spoon.

3

3) Puree the mango and Mango Juice. I wanted it all mango to have a dark orange color.

4

4) Using a funnel carefully pour mango juice into the glass containers. Divide evenly among the four glasses.

5

5) Freeze glasses for 20-30 minutes. The mango layer should already be fairly thick because of the frozen mango.

6

6) While the mango is in the freezer. Take half of the pineapple and microwave it. This will make the pineapple easier to blend.

7

7) Blend the pineapple (frozen and unfrozen) and apple/pineapple juice together.

8

8) Take the glasses out of the freezer and then add the final layer the blended pineapple. Use a funnel to help pour the smoothie in.

9

9) Add a straw and enjoy your candy corn smoothie!

Notes

*I didn't add any sweetener to the yogurt. The fruit above is quite sweet and as you drink it they all mix together. Honey makes the white layer less white in color so another reason why I didn't add it. *I don't love adding orange juice to my mango smoothies because I think the orange overpowers the flavor. If you don't have mango juice then microwave part of the frozen mango so the frozen mango is easier to blend. *If you don't want to do yogurt please use coconut milk or cream. That's another way to have a beautiful white color. If using something less thin than yogurt you will need to freeze this layer for about 30 minutes first before adding the orange layer.
